Spanish Translation of Transcription 02

Defendants may purposely talk in their own code or deliberately veiled form of speech. They may use a word that seems innocent enough such as mercancia or "merchandise." The government will argue that the "merchandise" was cocaine, but one should only put "merchandise" on the page. On a robbery of an armored truck where bombing was a side issue, the government overheard in wiretaps the word embutido, which means a sausage. This embutido was springing up all over the case in conversations that ostensibly had nothing to do with eating, cooking, or the food business. Code words often appear out of context, and here the prosecution suggested that the embutido was explosives. For the translation the interpreter could provide the word embutido in Spanish at the first reference, with the dictionary definition in brackets [sausage], and subsequently continue with the sausage. Of course a stick of a high explosive called Tovex is packaged somewhat like a sausage.
