We apply Translation Memory (TM) technology to improve quality and reduce cost. TM technology facilitates the development of a terminology database that may be organized by client, project or topic. This collection of previously translated text may be applied to the translation of similar documents, or documents in the same family.

ABC has used TM tools since they became available. Our language engineers and linguists are expert users of this technology that allows us to ensure consistency of terminology through translation reuse and automated glossaries. It also makes it possible for us to meet tight deadlines. The technology ensures that our clients are never charged full price for the translation of the same phrase. As we perform more translations and our database grows, our clients benefit from increasing reductions in maintenance costs. This is particularly important in the case of projects that involve the translation of documents that typically undergo frequent changes.

We customize our process to the specific needs of every client and project and to achieve our goals of optimal quality, cost containment and on-time delivery.

Our processes are documented in the form of procedures and work instructions. We ensure that our staff is properly trained in our processes and procedures, and that they receive adequate training on the use of all software tools required for the project.

We prepare a localization kit for each project. It includes instructions and reference materials for linguists and production staff.

Our translation process includes the following steps:

Translation of the source text by Translators working in their mother tongue, who are assigned to each project on the basis of their linguistic excellence and expertise in their field of specialization. Proofreading of the translation by qualified proofreaders, who verify accuracy of grammar and spelling and completeness. Quality Review of the translation by Editors, who work in their mother tongue, and are assigned to the project on the basis of their proven Editorial expertise and familiarity with the subject matter. Editors perform a ‘side by side review' of the target and source text to verify the accuracy of the translation and its adaptability to the targeted locale, consistency of terminology within and across translated documents, agreement with user interface terminology and with the glossary, and completeness. Every client is assigned a Project Manager, who is responsible for project oversight and serves as a single point of contact for all project-related issues.

We use Translation Memory tools to analyze the source file(s) submitted to translation to identify: 1. Matches: Repetitions and 95 to 100% matches (Priced at 25% percent of full or No match price). 2. Fuzzy matches: 75 to 94% matches (Priced at 75% percent of full or No match price). 3. No Match: No matches found in the database, or within the document. Matches/Repetitions and Fuzzy Matches are carefully reviewed and adjusted to ensure that they accurately reflect the meaning of the source text and for consistency of terminology. New Text (No Match) is translated and carefully reviewed to ensure that it is accurate and complete, and that the terminology selected is consistent and in accordance with the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the target locale(s).
